Welcome

Chattanooga Zoo Fire Update -February 2007-

We want to let our caring public know that the zoo with support form the community has "emerged from the smoke". We are very thankful to all of our supporters including US Xpress. We will miss the education animals that we lost but we have been blessed with a few new animal friends and they are becoming very dear to us as well. The building where the fire occured is going thru a major change and hopefully new classroom, office , and event space will allow us to get back to our programming and expanding our programs. We are looking towards spring and summer with renewed energy. There are still many ways for the public to help the zoo so keep in touch!

(Fire Background) On Tuesday night, November 7th, a fire broke out in the Education Building at the Chattanooga Zoo which housed many of the facility’s program animals.  The fire was reported at approximately 11:00 p.m. and Zoo staff and veterinarian Tony Ashley were on the scene within minutes.  Throughout the night, they worked with firefighters to save as many animals as possible.

According to Zoo Director Dardenelle Long, the zoo has been overwhelmed by the community's generosity at this extremely difficult time. From churches to school children to businesses, the zoo has been undated with donations of cash and supplies. Colleagues from across the country have also called to express this sympathy.

Individuals and corporations wanting to assist the Zoo can call Leslie Davidson at:  423.421.1567 or lesliertd@yahoo.com.

Welcome to Chattanooga’s hidden jewel, the Chattanooga Zoo at Warner Park!  This attraction is drawing more attention with  locals and tourists alike.  The Chattanooga Zoo sits on 6 acres in the middle of Warner Park,  just 2-miles from downtown Chattanooga.  It features animals and information from all over the world, including Latin America, North America, Africa, and Asia.

The Warner Park Ranch Exhibit invites visitors to directly interact with the ‘ranch’ animals.  The Gombe Forest features chimpanzees, the Himalayan Passage features red pandas, the highly endangered “Bali-Mynahs”, and Asian Elongated tortoises, and the Zoo's newest exhibit, the Cougar Express, features Mountain Lions. Those are just a few of the many exhibits  you will see during your journey through our wonderful zoo. Visit the Snow Leopards and Langurs exhibit in the Himalayan Passage.
