Position Title: GIS Specialist & GIS Specialist Senior (Two Positions)

Salary Range: Specialist: $27,194 to $41,854 Annually. Specialist Senior: $32,115 to $49,481 Annually. Appointments are made at the starting salary unless otherwise authorized.
License: None

Examples of Duties: Collects data from a variety of sources and enters into computerized data base; designs, plots and produces maps from the data; develops automated map libraries and data dictionaries, including maps, aerials and other geographic information; uses computer-aided design software for management and completion of projects including preparing construction plans, locating property lines and producing spreadsheets. GIS Specialist Senior has the following additional duties: designs and maintains the geographic information system (GIS) data bases; provides database design, implementation, reports, development of analytical GIS procedures and custom command menus; assists other divisions of Public Works Department, other City Departments, outside government agencies and citizens with research and data compilation and performs additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: Vocational/Technical degree with emphasis in geographic information systems, computer applications or other closely related field supplemented by a minimum of one (1) year of previous experience and/or training involving GIS systems OR any combination of education, training and experience which provided the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities needed to successfully perform this job. Applicants meeting the following preferred qualifications may be considered for the GIS Specialist Senior position: ESRI experience in combination with experience in data base design using SQL server, VB.net, or GIS Web Server Internet software and Crystal Reports or Sql reporting plus software installation experience.
