 Peter Murphy, District 9
 Councilman Peter Murphy is a native of New York and the youngest of seven children. He attended public schools there and earned scholarships in Track and Cross Country and an Academic pre-law scholarship to Canisius College, in Buffalo, New York, graduating with a B.A. in Political Science and Communication. Prior to law school, he was a Program Assistant with the Congressional Economic Leadership Institute in Washington, D.C. He received his Juris Doctor in 1997 from Washington & Lee University Law School where he was a member of the Law School Rugby team and (by personal invitation) a member of the Black Law Student's Association. He is married to Etelka Murphy and the father of two sons. In addition to his work for our City, Councilman Murphy practices civil litigation in State and Federal Courts in and around Chattanooga.
