Gayle P. Keown, City TreasurerThe City Treasurer is appointed by the Mayor and City Council. The Treasurer’s office is a division of the Department of Finance & Administration. As treasurer and tax collector for the City, this official is responsible for the collection and investment of nearly $200 million in revenue and other sources of funding that flow through the City. The Treasurer’s primary responsibility as tax collector is to maximize collection of property taxes, water quality fee, and business licenses and permits levied by the City Council.
Property Tax payments should be mailed from Octobert through February to: Property Tax payments accepted at the following locations: Office of City Treasurer Credit and Debit cards payments for Property Tax and/or water quality accepted at Office of the Treasurer until June 30th. There is a non-refundable convenience fee for online payments. The City of Chattanooga retains no portion of this fee. A fee of 2.49% or $1.49 which ever is greater for American Express, Discover, Master Card or Visa. A fee of $3.95 for Visa Debit.
