The City Treasurer is appointed by the Mayor and City Council. The Treasurer’s office is a division of the Department of Finance & Administration. As treasurer and tax collector for the City, this official is responsible for the collection and investment of nearly $200 million in revenue and other sources of funding that flow through the City. The Treasurer’s primary responsibility as tax collector is to maximize collection of property taxes, water quality fee, and business licenses and permits levied by the City Council.

Credit and Debit cards payments for Property Tax and/or water quality accepted at Office of the Treasurer until June 30th. There is a non-refundable convenience fee for online payments. The City of Chattanooga retains no portion of this fee. A fee of 2.49% or $1.49 which ever is greater for American Express, Discover, Master Card or Visa. A fee of $3.95 for Visa Debit.

First Tennessee Financial Centers
2009 City of Chattanooga property taxes may be paid between October 1, 2009 and February 27, 2010 at any First Tennessee Financial Center located in Hamilton County. Both portions of tax bill must be presented in order for the bank to process the payment.
