Station 17 was organized in 1969. The Company began with a Seagraves Pumper and was housed in a new Station at 628 Signal Mountain Road.  There have been many changes over the years and at one time during the early 80’s Number 8 Ladder Company was created and housed at Station 17. This Company was later disbanded for manpower reasons. The Station was also chosen to receive one of the first Telesquirts. This aerial ladder/pumper combination was an ideal choice due to the growth of apartment complexes in the District. Today, the District is served by a 75-foot aerial ladder/pumper combination called a Quint with back-up from a hose truck and tanker that are also housed at the Signal Mountain Road address.
