Exciting "Tale Spin" Storytelling Festival Coming to Chattanooga May 8 - 11, 2008

Storytelling Festival to Bring Exciting National and Regional Storytelling Talent to Chattanooga, May 8 - 11, 2008The TaleSpin Storytelling Festival showcases a variety of professional storytellers that engage audiences of all ages. Youth stories, cultural stories, humorous stories, historical stories and more that connect generations, share cultures, and convey history, traditions, and lessons for living. The Chattanooga Downtown Partnership is the event coordinator and is working with the City to bring the main event to Coolidge Park. On Thursday night, May 8, will be the kickoff event featuring six national storytellers will be held at theTivoli Theatre. On Friday and Saturday, May 9 & 10, Coolidge Park will be the centerpiece for the festival, with telling occurring under festival tents throughout the day followed by a "Nightcap Session" on Friday and ghost stories under the night sky on Saturday evening. Sunday, May 11, will feature a special Mother's Day Storytelling Cruise on the Southern Belle Riverboat. National tellers coming to this year's TaleSpin Festival include Judith Black, Kevin Kling, Bill Harley, Queen Nur, Syd Lieberman and Kathryn Windham.
