City Audit Department Commended
![]() 3/31/2009Chattanooga, Tennessee – The City of Chattanooga’s Internal Audit Division received an unqualified opinion (clean opinion) resulting from a peer review as required by Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States. In addition to the overall quality control system, reviewers focused on the organizational and reporting structure of the Division and performed a thorough review of the 21st Century Waterfront audit. The extended focus was due to recent public attention related to the Council auditor position and the Division’s audit of the 21st Century Waterfront project. Upon completion, the reviewers praised the Audit Division on its independence. “This very thorough review helps to remind us (auditors) just how stressful it can be when you are audited, even when you are confident you’re doing everything properly,” said Internal Audit Director Stan Sewell. “We’re proud of the quality of work we perform each day and look forward to continuing to perform at this level.” The Opinion letter, along with the associated management letter is available on the Internal Audit website at: http://www.chattanooga.gov/Mayors_Office/MayorsOffice_2932.htm |
