Exciting Rowing Races on the Tennessee River as the "Head of the Hooch" returns Nov. 7th & 8th

11/7/2009

Head of the Hooch Rowing Regatta

Ross's Landing will be the hot spot for "Head of the Hooch"  rowers, rowing teams, and enthusiasts Sat. & Sun. Nov. 7th and 8th.  The public is invited to come out, enjoy the excitement on the river, and cheer on their favorite teams.

The "Head of the Hooch" outgrew its original location on the Chattahoochie River near Atlanta and has enjoyed hosting this event at the Chattanooga riverfront for several years.  It is the second largest rowing race in the country.  (Boston's "Head of the Charles"  is the first largest.)  Drawing over 10,000 participants and support crews,  the "Hooch" in Chattanooga is clearly the largest event of its kind in the Southeast.

There will be vendors and information along the Chattanooga Green and Ross's Landing for the weekend starting on Friday evening, Nov. 6th. Co-sponsors include the Atlanta Rowing Club, the Lookout Rowing Club, and Outdoor Chattanooga.

For Friday and Saturday, the Coolidge Park Carousel will stay open until 8:00 p.m.

For more information call Ruthie at Outdoor Chattanooga a7 643-6889.
