Local Roads to Receive Surface Repairs

3/10/2009

Chattanooga, Tennessee – Please note that Repair work has begun on Mountain Creek Road and will immediately follow on Pineville Road.  The City of Chattanooga will be repairing both roads because of unsatisfactory results from a resurfacing method used in 2008.

“As I stated last year, we will not be utilizing the controversial chip seal method of resurfacing on any major roads in Chattanooga,” said Mayor Ron Littlefield.  “Although we will continue to examine alternative and less expensive methods of resurfacing our roads, chip seal has proven to be disappointing and unacceptable.”

Both Mountain Creek and Pineville Roads had undergone surface repairs last year which resulted in the need for additional work.  Mayor Littlefield reassured citizens that the roads that had received the initial resurfacing treatment would be repaired as soon as weather permitted.  Current work on both roads is expected to be complete within 90 days (Weather Permitting).
