![]() 4/28/2008May Curbside Recycling and Brush Pick up-Dates Chattanooga, Tennessee – Brush collection and curbside recycling collection will begin the first full week of May (The week containing the first Monday of the Month). Brush Collection in Area 1 will be May 5 -9, 2008. Curbside recyclables will be collected in Area 1 on Wednesday, May 7, 2008. Area 2 Brush Collection will be May 12 - 16, 2008 and recyclables will be collected in Area 2 on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Area 3 Brush Collection will be May 19 - 23, 2008, and recyclables will be collected May 21, 2008. Area 4 Brush collection will be May 26 - 30, 2008, and recyclables will be collected on May 28, 2008. To subscribe via the Web site, simply enter your e-mail address and area number. For those who do not know their area number, step-by-step instructions for determining this information are available on this page—simply select your street from an alphabetized list, select the block in which your street number belongs and your area number will display on the screen. Those who do not know their area number may also call 3-1-1 for assistance. Brush Collection Guidelines Place brush in small piles on the curb during the 7 days prior to collection week. Do not place brush near utility poles or mailboxes. Do not mix brush with other materials, and place bagged leaves in separate piles at street side. Curbside Recycling Guidelines Recyclables must be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. on collection day in blue or clear bags or in a covered bin clearly marked “Recycle.” The following recyclable items may be placed on the curb for collection: cardboard, newspaper, all paper grades (except shredded), plastic #1 and #2 bottles with a neck (look for the triangular recycle symbol on the bottle to determine the plastic number), aluminum cans and steel cans that have been rinsed out. Items do not need to be separated, cans do not need to be crushed, pull-tabs do not need to be removed from cans and lids do not need to be removed from plastic bottles or jugs. Recycling Convenience Centers Chattanooga has four recycling convenience centers located throughout the City where other recyclable materials may be collection. Patten Recreation Center: 3202 Kelly's Ferry Road Access Road at DuPont Parkway: 4500 North Access Road East Brainerd Baseball Complex: end of Batter’s Place Road Hours of Operation Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. All items collected through curbside pickup may also be taken to recycling convenience centers with the addition of shredded paper, glass bottles (brown, green and clear), wet or dry cell batteries and small electronics (no televisions or microwaves).
