New Summit of Softball Complex Puts Chattanooga Back on the Map for National and Regional Softball Tournaments

After much thought, planning, design, and construction efforts the City's newest Summit of Softball Complex was officially opened in a lively dedication event on Friday, July 17, 2009 that brought historic players, sports personalities, and local leaders together to share their thoughts on Chattanooga's softball tradition and hopes for the future.

The new complex on over 80 acres has three color-coded playing areas with state-of-the-art fields, seating, and many modern amentities. The $12 million dollar facility will not only serve as the site for annual National Softball and Amateur Softball Association's national tournaments but, local and regional adult league play and youth tournaments.

The location of the new complex on Old Apison Pike puts the facility between the Bonny Oaks Exit #7 and the Ooltwah Exit #11 and adjacent to the town of Collegedale. This is significant because the new Volkswagen Plant is located in close proximity and a great of growth to this area is expected.
