If your child cannot remain in camp without you for more than a few minutes, please wait another year. (This does not apply to ZooAbility Camp and “Mommy and Me” camp for 3 year olds) Can I enroll my child in a camp for an older age group? No, we adhere to strict age requirement. Our camps involve exciting hands-on, age appropriate activities. What should my child wear? Campers will receive a camp t-shirt on Wednesday of their camp week. Campers going on field trips are required to wear their camp shirts on the day of the field trip. Campers go outside unless it is lightening, so make sure they wear appropriate clothing. Also, campers do a lot of walking, so they must wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Any camper arriving with inappropriate clothing or footwear will be sent home to change. How are campers supervised? Campers are supervised at all times by qualified counselors and are escorted to restrooms. My child takes medication. How should I arrange for this? Any medication to be given during camp hours will be administered by the Camp Director or Education Curator only. To ensure a positive camp experience for all children, it is imperative that you notify us of special needs or medical conditions. The Camp Director will go over needs with counselors on a daily basis. Camp sign-in and sign-out, where will it be? ’Campers MUST be signed in and out daily. You must have a photo ID ready and be listed on your child’s application. Sign-in and sign-out will be in the Warner Family Education Center unless otherwise directed. Please use the McCallie Avenue park entrance to access the Education Center. The gate adjacent to the Education Center will be unlocked no earlier than 8:00am. Please plan to arrive at camp on time. What happens on Monday morning? Beginning a new week with new people can be tough. We encourage parents to meet all of our counselors and ask questions. We will spend extra time in the Education Center on the first day getting to know each other. Do you provide snacks? Yes. Snack items include goldfish crackers, animal crackers, pretzels, etc. We also serve Kool-Aid, lemonade, and water. You may pack a small snack of your own if you prefer. We will also be taking plenty of water and cool-down breaks. What about lunch? All campers must bring a lunch except for those leaving at 12:00 Noon (3 & 4 year olds). Campers are not allowed to purchase food at the concession stand. A microwave oven will not be available for use. |
