Brush Collection

Brush Collection is a residential on-call curbside collection service that may be requested by contacting 3-1-1.

Guidelines

Brush collection includes only wood waste generated by the individual home or property occupant from a residential property.

Wood waste or shrub trimmings placed for city collection may not be larger than 6-feet in length and 6-inches in diameter. Residential property owners or residents must dispose of brush in excess of these dimensions at their own expense.

No pile of brush or branches placed for city collection shall exceed 96 cubic feet (4 ft. wide, 4 ft. height and 6 ft. length), and may only be assembled at one location. Piles must not have other garbage, refuse or rubbish intermixed with it or stacked upon it.

Small amounts of leaves, grass clippings, or other rubbish less than 2 ft. wide by 2 ft. long shall be bagged and placed in a garbage container for disposal.

Brush collection crews will not collect items other than yard waste.

Placement

Place brush separate from other items and at least 3-feet away from other stationary objects, on-street parking areas, drainage clean outs, and as near as practical to the roadway in front of the premises without blocking the roadway, sidewalk or drainage ditch.

Residents who do not call 3-1-1 for collection immediately after placing brush on the curbside for collection or do not remove waste which exceeds allowable dimensions within seven (7) days of notification will be subject to citation for violation of city policy.

Contractors

Proper disposal of wood waste generated by a contractor or business is the responsibility of the property owner or contractor. Contractors cutting or trimming trees and shrubs shall remove the resulting debris from the property and provide for lawful disposal of the debris within ninety-six (96) hours. It is unlawful for any such person to place such debris for residential brush collection.

Leaf Collection

Leaf Collection is a residential service only. Loose leaves may be placed at the curb and must be separated from brush, wood waste, and trash. Bagged leaves will be collected by calling 3-1-1 to schedule a pick up. Place bagged leaves separate from other materials at the curb for collection. If you choose to bag leaves please use bio-degradable bags. Leaves will be collected as crews move through the city from November through February.

Brush may also be disposed of at the Wood Recycle Center located at 3925 N. Hawthorne Street.
