CITY LANDFILL

Hours:

 Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Tipping Fees are:

City Landfill       $30.50 per ton (Garbage)
                            $24.40 minimum

C&D Landfill     This is a private Landfill - for rates call 423-326-1566

 

Directions:

58 Highway north approximately 4 miles north of Harrison Bay you will turn left on Birchwood Pike. (Landmark is a store called "58" Mart).  They are 1 mile on the left. 

Rules and Regulations:

Driver's license with correct address or current utility bill with same name as license is required to dump.
 
The landfill is only free to city residents, from the house they live in, as long as it is not bigger than a pickup truck size load.   The city code states that only refuse originating from your primary residence, in nothing larger than a pickup truck is free.    The City Landfill does not accept demolition or construction waste.   http://www.chattanooga.gov/City_Council/Code/19%20--%20Chapter%2018%20GARBAGE%20AND%20REFUSE.pdf


Any uncovered material will not be accepted.  All trucks have to be tarped.

The landfill does not accept tires, batteries, gas tanks, or flammable liquids, if you have anything questionable please ask.  Most flammable liquids can be taken to wood recycle/household hazardous waste facility located at 3925 North Hawthorne (only on the 2nd Saturday of each month - See Household Hazardous Waste Facility for more information).
 
County Highway Department:  Tires, gas tanks can be brought here if they are cut in half or are mashed flat.   Located near Silverdale Workhouse (Prison) on Standifer Gap Road.

Bagged garbage is collected from county residents from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday - Friday and from 7:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.  Anything besides bagged residential garbage must be brought during regular business hours.
 
Household Hazardous Waste is collected from the city and county residents on the second Saturday of each month at the Wood and Brush Recycle Center.
