The CFD Fire Logistics Division is vital to the overall operation of the fire department. This division supplies all necessary resources to the function of the department, from hand soap and toilet paper to apparatus and stations.

The Fire Logistics Division is further broken down into Supply, providing and supporting all necessary equipment and fuel, and Maintenance, providing planning for new construction and remodeling, and maintenance on department buildings and equipment.

The Operations Division is the largest departmental division. Nine battalion chiefs manage three geographic districts on three daily shifts. The division has almost 400 uniformed personnel staffing 20 fire stations. Those stations cover the city of Chattanooga, which is about 155 square miles with a population of 176,588.

In addition to fire suppression, this division provides EMT-IV medical response, hazardous materials operations, vehicle extrication, special rescue operations, and attend many community and public education events.

The men and women of the Operations Division also conduct preplan activities, routine hydrant inspections and participate in numerous fire safety educational programs around the city throughout the year.
