10-22-2012 Arrest Made in Church Fire

The first fire department unit arrived on the scene at 8:30 and gave the initial report of light smoke showing from the rear of the structure.

Upon further investigation at the church, firefighters discovered a fire in a secluded alcove at the back of the structure. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters and Captain Anthony Moore of the Fire Investigation was called to the church to make a fire cause determination of this fire.  Captain Moore determined that the fire was set intentionally.

It was during the investigation of the fire that Willie Green, age 60, was seen by firefighters at the scene upon the arrival of the fire department and by evidence collected from the scene; Mr. Green was placed under arrest and charged with arson. He was transported to the Hamilton County Jail.  Damages to the church were determined to be minor.
