12-11-2012 Abba's House Donates Toys to Forgotten Child Fund

Chattanooga firefighters from Station 19 in Hixson, and some employees with Hamilton County EMS, met at Abba's House this afternoon to accept huge boxes full of new toys. Pastor Ronnie Phillips Jr. said that for the past several weeks, the congregation at Abba's House has collected toy donations as admission to their performances of "Tennessee Christmas" and at regular church services. "We have a very generous congregation," said Phillips, "and all of us love helping out the Forgotten Child Fund."

The Forgotten Child Fund provides toys for hundreds of needy families throughout the area who are unable to buy Christmas presents for their children. It is best known for the Santa Train, a long parade of emergency vehicles and personnel that delivers presents to families on Christmas Eve.

This charity is operated and supported by volunteers with many emergency response agencies, including: Chattanooga Fire Department, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue, Chattanooga Police Department, Hamilton County Emergency Services, Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, Red Bank Fire Department, Signal Mountain Fire Department and several volunteer fire departments.
