The Chattanooga Fire Department is doing its part to provide a safe, enjoyable Halloween experience for area children. On Tuesday, October 31, 2017, on Halloween night, the Chattanooga Fire Department will open all 20 fire stations in Chattanooga from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Around 9:30 this morning, Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire at 6731 Standifer Gap Road. Battalion Chief Brandon Schroyer said the first arriving firefighters with Quint 8 encountered dark smoke coming from the basement. The firefighters attacked the fire quickly, using hand-held hoselines to extinguish the fire within a few minutes.

Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched to a reported fire in North Chattanooga shortly before 10:00 this morning. When firefighters arrived at 316 Chambliss Street, light smoke was showing from the quadplex. Battalion Chief Chris Warren said the fire appears to have started on the backside of one of the apartments. Chief Warren said a neighbor was attempting to put the fire out with a garden hose when firefighters arrived on the scene. However, the flames continued to spread and were beginning to get inside the corner apartment unit.
