Station 9

Station 9 is located at:
3250 8th Avenue
Chattanooga, TN  37404

Station # 9 is located at 3250 8th Avenue. It opened in June 2014, replacing the old Station 9 on 6th Avenue, which was constructed in 1927.

It is a single company, two-bay fire hall housing Engine 9, a 2013 model 1,500 GPM pumper. It serves the southern-central most part of Chattanooga, in the historic area called East Lake.  Its district borders the Georgia state line to the south and the City of East Ridge, TN to the east. To the north, Engine 5, Ladder 5, and Quint 2 border its district. To the west, it borders districts with Quint 14 and Squad 4.

There are currently thirteen firefighters assigned to Station 9 between three shifts. Three Captains, three Lieutenants, four Senior Firefighters, and three Firefighters make up the personnel.  Station 9 sits in the heart of East Lake, one of Chattanooga's older and historic areas of town. On its eastern most border sits Missionary Ridge, which should ring a bell to any Civil War buff. Our service district is a primarily residential area, although we have plenty of businesses and other commercial properties. Residents of the neighborhood walk and ride bicycles a lot, often stopping by to say hi and have a soft drink from our drink machine just outside the front door.

Some of the people living close to the fire hall have grown up here and have known more fire personnel than they can remember. For most folks in the area, we are considered part of the neighborhood, and would be missed if the station ever shut down.

The Station Coordinator is Captain Donny McMillian and he can be reached at www.dmcmillian@chattanooga.gov..
