Human Services

Welcome!

Human Services was commissioned in the 1960s as the local Community Action Agency for Hamilton County.  In 1990, it was established as a City of Chattanooga department with an Administrator appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Chattanooga City Council.

What We Do:

Chattanooga Human Services provides a diverse mix of programs and services provided through federal, state, and local funding sources.  Each service promotes improvement in the  quality of life for children, families, and individuals.

Mission Statement:

To improve the quality of living of the poor and/or disadvantaged citizens of Hamilton County by providing temporary assistance, mobilizing community resources, and encouraging self-help activities and programs that will alleviate poverty conditions in the community.
