Pension Task Force

Mayor Andy Berke formed the Pension Task Force and charged it with finding a consensus approach to reforming the Chattanooga Fire and Police Pension Fund. The goal of the Pension Task Force is to ensure the pension plan achieves the following:

  • Attract public safety employees and encourage them to have long careers with the City;
  • Meet the City's obligations to police officers and firefighters; and
  • Use taxpayer dollars responsibly in order for Chattanooga to fund present day public safety initiatives.

The Pension Task Force is comprised of eighteen members. Ten are active or retired firefighters and police officers, including Police Chief Bobby Dodd, Fire Chief Lamar Flint, and two members of the Pension Board. The remaining eight members are community leaders.

The Pension Task Force will report to Mayor Berke no later than December. All meetings are open to the public and are streamed to the right.
