4-4-17 Industrial Accident with Injury

At 10:00 a.m. April 4, 2017, ​Chattanooga Police responded to an accidental injury/explosion at 617 Hudson Road. The following are the preliminary facts of that incident:

• ​Upon arrival at Aqua Treat police made contact with the injured party
• ​Victim was suffering from multiple traumatic injuries
• Witnesses told police victim was welding a waste water solvent holding tank
• While welding, an explosion occurred throwing the victim approximately 50-feet from the tank
• Chattanooga Fire and Hamilton County EMS responded to provide medical treatment
• Victim was transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS
• ​Victim was welding alone when accident occurred
• ​Explosion did not present an immediate threat to the public or environment
• Members of CPD's​ Major Crimes Unit are investigating
