4-10-17 Traffic Crash/Officer Involved


At 8:19 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2017, Chattanooga Police Traffic Division responded to a two vehicle crash at 2000 Dodson Ave. The following are the preliminary facts of the incident:

  • Vehicle #1, a Ford Crown Vic/police cruiser, was traveling north on Dodson Ave.
  • Vehicle #1 was running lights and sirens to an active call
  • Vehicle #2, a Ford Explorer, was also traveling north on Dodson Ave. and attempting to make a left turn from Dodson Ave. on to Curtis St.
  • Driver of Vehicle #2 did not see Vehicle #1 coming up from behind
  • Driver of Vehicle #1 was attempting to pass Vehicle #2 at the same time Vehicle #2 was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Curtis St when the collision occurred
  • After impact Vehicle #1 went off the road
  • Both drivers and two passengers in Vehicle #2 were transported to local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries
  • Members of the CPD Traffic Division are investigating the crash and will determine fault
