4-8-18 Traffic Crash/ Fatality - 18320 Interstate 24 Westbound

• Vehicle #2 (Peterbilt Tractor) was traveling west on Interstate 24 in the middle lane
• Vehicle #1 (Dodge Avenger) was also traveling west on Interstate 24 in the middle lane
• Vehicle #1 struck the rear of Vehicle #2 which caused Vehicle #1 to spin to the right and come to rest on the right shoulder of the interstate
• The driver of Vehicle #1 was pronounced deceased on scene
• The driver of Vehicle #2 stated to investigators he felt the impact and stopped his vehicle a short distance down the road
• Preliminary investigation indicates speed and alcohol are factors in driver of Vehicle #1 causing the crash
• Driver #1 was not wearing a seat belt
• Members of the Chattanooga Police Traffic Division are actively investigating the crash
