UPDATED 10/4/18: 9-29-18 Shooting/Homicide - 2000 block Windsor St.


  • A firearm consistent with the one used to shoot and kill Te'unte Rice was found in Areeyon Lane's possession when he was killed on September 29, 2018 at 1330 East Third Street
  • Ballistics testing through the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) resulted in a high confidence correlation that the weapon found on Areeyon Lane was the firearm used to kill Te'unte Rice
  • Several witnesses identified the suspect to police as Areeyon Lane
  • Members of the Major Crimes Bureau continue to actively investigate this incident.

On September 28, 2018 at approximately 10:35 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to the 2000 block of Windsor Street for a Shots Fired call. The following are the preliminary facts of the incident:

 

  • Chattanooga Police Officers were notified that a victim was transported to a local hospital via personal vehicle prior to police arrival
  • Victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital
  • Members of the Major Crimes Bureau are actively investigating this incident
  • If you have any information about the incident, please call the Homicide Tip Line at (423) 643-5100. You can remain anonymous.

Victim:

Te' unte Rice (male, 18)

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423-643-5100 or submit an anonymous tip via the Chattanooga PD Mobile App. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
