UPDATE (4/11/13) A 13-year-old boy suffering from a single gunshot wound from an accidental shooting on Sunday, April 9, 2017 has succumbed to his injuries. He passed away Monday evening, April 10, 2017.

 

Around 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, Chattanooga Police responded to a call for a person shot. The following are the preliminary facts of that incident:

  • Chattanooga Patrol Officers arrived on scene to find a 13-year-old boy suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head
  • Hamilton County EMS transported the boy to a local hospital
  • Another juvenile in the home at the time of the incident called 911 for help
  • At this time the victim is listed in critical, but stable condition
  • Investigators found no evidence to indicate this was anything other than an accident
  • Members of the Violent Crime Bureau are actively investigating this incident.

Juvenile (male, 13)

WITNESS:

Juvenile (male, 16)

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423-698-2525. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
