Park Updates

New Parks & Renovations

Walnut Street Bridge

The Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge is undergoing routing maintenance to extend the service life of this historic landmark. Work will continue throughout the winter months and is projected to be completed by July 2017. Activities included in this phase of repairs include:

  • Foundation and Pier repairs
  • Steel repairs
  • Wooden Deck Repairs

All efforts will be made to maintain pedestrian traffic on the bridge during construction, but the public is advised to use caution as rehabilitation work is performed.


Miller Park

 Southside Community Park

RENDERThe City of Chattanooga is building a new park in historic Alton Park. Located at the site of the former Charles A. Bell school, this park will enhance the vibrancy of the neighborhood and connect residents with options for recreation and gathering. Installations of new playgrounds is occuring at the following parks:

  • North Chattanooga YFD Center
  • Westside
