Chattanooga is committed to providing neighborhoods and individuals with the tools to address their most pressing needs while improving their quality of life. In 1996, recognizing the importance of strong neighborhoods to a thriving city and realizing that quality of life concerns can be most effectively addressed at the neighborhood level, the City of Chattanooga made manifest its commitment to neighborhoods by creating the Department of Neighborhood Services and Community Development.
The department maintains the city's commitment to building strong neighborhoods through programs designed to promote the welfare of neighborhoods, enhance community pride and encourage citizen participation. This is accomplished through the three divisions of Neighborhood Services and Community Development:
