The Department of Public Works delivers a variety of services that Chattanooga's citizens rely on daily. Responsibilities include the City's infrastructure: its design, construction and maintenance; the interceptor sewer system; the City's storm water system; the collection and disposal of garbage, brush, recycling, and household hazardous waste; parks maintenance, programming and operations.
Solid Waste & Recycling
Responsible for garbage collection, recycle collection, brush collection, bagged yard waste collection, leaf collection, and bulky trash collection.
Responsible for operations, maintenance, and programming in City Parks.
GIS and Engineering
Responsible for engineering planning, design, construction management, inspection services, and storm water infrastructure.
The Street Maintenance division, encompassing construction, mowing, street sweeping, emergency, and urban forestry, utilizes crews to ensure City streets are not only safe for traffic but also regularly maintained. From filling in potholes to completing large scale construction projects, City crews work with the goal of improving Chattanooga's roadways.
Interceptor Sewer System
Responsible for Interceptor Sewer System and Solid Waste Disposal.
To preserve and enhance the quality of the physical environment and infrastructure through prompt, cost effective and courteous delivery of services which protect the health, safety and welfare of citizens.
