What We Do:

The City of Chattanooga Department of Youth and Family Development offers a wide range of recreation programs and services for all ages and abilities.

Chattanooga Fitness Center

The Chattanooga Fitness Center, often referred to as the PowerHouse, strives to provide affordable and accessible health and fitness opportunities for users of all abilities. The facility is ADA accessible and offers a variety of strength and cardiovascular machines, free weights, and exercise classes. Equipment choices include treadmills, ellipticals, stationary cycles, seated steppers, rowing ergometers, and multi-station weight machines. Exercise class options include Zumba, Kettlebells, Step, High & Low Impact Aerobics, Group Strength, Circuit Training, Chair Exercise, Yoga, and Line Dancing.

The cost to work out is just $1.00 per visit and there are no memberships. The facility is located in Warner Park (@ 3rd Street and Holtzclaw), which features plenty of free parking in well-lit parking lots, as well as an outdoor fitness trail that flows thru the park from the Fitness Center to Frost Stadium and back.

Who We Are: 

The City of Chattanooga provides programs in 5 public swimming pools, 73 tennis courts throughout the city and the 26 court Champions Club Tennis Complex, the Chattown Skate Park, the Chattanooga Fitness Center.

The Recreation Division also maintains softball fields at 11 centers, multiple fields at the city's large complexes at Warner Park, the Summit of Softball, Tyner Recreation Area, Lakeside Recreation Area, and Dupont-North River Area. The department strives to offer quality facilities that are well maintained and promote active healthy lifestyles.

Brainerd BasketballThe City of Chattanooga operates 18 neighborhood Youth and Family Development Centers.  Each of these centers serve youth, teens, adults, families, and senior citizens with a variety of classes and life-long learning, sports and wellness programs, enrichment and social activities.  The centers are equipped with meeting rooms, classrooms, gymnasiums, and public outdoor spaces that include playgrounds, sports fields, walking trails, and outdoor pavilions.  Three of the centers: Brainerd, Carver, and South Chattanooga have public swimming pools.  Some of the centers have special rooms for art, dance, recreational games, and house neighborhood reading centers/libraries.
