10-4-19 Pallet fire seen for miles

The fire spread to the nearby woods. Firefighters worked hard and fast to get the fire extinguished. It took about an hour and 15 minutes to get it under control.

Woodbridge Chattanooga Formed Plastics is a manufacturer of expanded polypropylene formed plastics.

Around 50 workers evacuated safely. The company has a robust emergency action plan.

No employees or firefighters were injured.

The fire did not get to the building. CFD protected the building with an exposure line.

The Chattanooga Police Department, Hamilton County EMS, Chattanooga/Hamilton County Rescue and Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management provided assistance on the scene.

Mutual aid for fire coverage inside the city was provided by Signal Mountain Fire Department, Dallas Bay VFD and East Ridge Fire & Rescue.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
