11-29-2012 Firefighters Save Commercial Building from Truck Fire
Shortly before 5:00 p.m., employees at Woodbridge Manufacturing noticed thick, black smoke emanating from the diesel shop across the street that is owned by ADM and called 911. The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to 1200 Judd Road with six fire companies.
As the smoke poured out of the roof and other vents in the building, Chattanooga firefighters suited up and made their way inside. Captain Bill Dautrich with Quint 10 said the fire was basically consuming a semi-tractor that was parked inside the diesel shop. The fiberglass, tires and fuel all contributed to the large volume of smoke that could be seen from miles away. The firefighters got the fire under control fairly quickly, saving most of the large, metal building. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
Chattanooga police and Hamilton County EMS also provided valuable assistance on the scene.
