4-8-17 Motor Vehicle Crash/Fatality

At 5:08 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 the Chattanooga Police Traffic Division responded to a two vehicle crash at mile marker 12.6 on the northbound side of interstate 75. The following was discovered through investigation, interview, and observation:

Vehicle #1, an Acura SUV traveling southbound on I-75 left the roadway and traveled across the median to the northbound lanes of travel
On the northbound side of I-75 Vehicle #1 stuck Vehicle #2, a Mercedes Benz convertible
The driver of Vehicle #2 was pronounced dead on scene
The driver of Vehicle #1and juvenile passenger received minor seatbelt abrasions during the crash
Both occupants of Vehicle #1 were transported to a local hospital via Hamilton County EMS
Driver of Vehicle #1 has a medical condition that may be a contributing factor in the crash
Members of the CPD Traffic Division are investigating the crash and following all leads
