UPDATE 1/5/18: After a complete and thorough investigation of the facts and circumstances surrounding the homicide of Evan Derry, the Chattanooga Police Department's Violent Crimes Investigators arrested the suspect, Terrence Lewis. Lewis is charged with Criminal Homicide and Especially Aggravated Robbery. The suspect is now in custody at the Hamilton County Jail.

On December 28, 2017 at 8:57 p.m. the Chattanooga Police Department responded to a shots fired call on the 7600 block North Bishop Drive. The following are the preliminary facts of that incident:

• Upon arrival, officers located a black Chevrolet Tahoe wrecked in the roadway
• The victim was found unresponsive in the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound
• HCEMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he would later succumb to his injuries
• Chattanooga Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau responded to the scene to investigate the incident
• CPD is asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Tip Line at 423-643-5100. Callers can remain anonymous and all tips go directly to investigators

Evan Derry (male, 20)

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423-698-2525. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
