5-12-18 Pedestrian Struck Fatality - 1300 block Ely Rd.

• The pedestrian was walking in a lane of travel on Ely Rd.
• Traffic Investigators determined Vehicle 1 was traveling on Ely Rd in the same lane and struck the pedestrian before coming to a stop.
• Based on witness statements, Traffic Investigators determined the driver of Vehicle 1 then fled the scene without rendering aid or information.
• Suspect, driver of Vehicle 1, was described as a black male with a short hair cut.
• The suspect vehicle was described as being a mid 2000’s model sedan, black or very dark in color.
• Based on evidence collected at the scene the suspect vehicle is most likely a Hyundai but the model and year are unknown.
• The suspect vehicle has not been located at this time.
• The victim was transported by Hamilton County EMS to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
• Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department.
