UPDATE: ARREST/10-9-18 Shooting - 2100 Foust St.


On October 9, 2018 at 10:42 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a Person Shot call where they located two community members suffering from gunshot wounds. Since that time, CPD's Major Crimes Investigators worked continuously to collect evidence, interview witnesses and victims, and follow up on leads. The CPD Public Safety Cameras monitored at the Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) played a key part in locating the suspect and the vehicle he was driving at the time of the incident.

CPD's Neighborhood Policing and Fugitive Units along with Chattanooga Housing Authority Police contributed to the successful identification and apprehension of the suspect.

SUSPECT:

Maurice Thurman Jr.

DOB: 6/7/2000

CHARGES:

Attempted Murder x 2, Aggravated Assault x 3, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony

On October 9, 2018 at approximately 10:42 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to the 2100 block of Foust Street for a Person Shot call. The following are the preliminary facts of the incident:

 

  • Upon arrival, Chattanooga Police located two people with gunshot wounds
  • Hamilton County EMS transported both victims, a juvenile and an adult, to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
  • A witness near the scene stated to police that a person in a passing vehicle shot the victims then fled the area
  • Members of the Major Crimes Bureau are actively investigating this incident

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423-698-2525 or submit an anonymous tip via the Chattanooga PD Mobile App. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
