Chattanooga firefighters rushed to a house fire at 4703 St. Elmo Avenue around 12:30 p.m. today. Captain Michael Schroyer with Quint 14 said there was heavy smoke and flames showing as firefighters drove to the scene.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, Chattanooga firefighters, along with staff and volunteers with the American Red Cross, will distribute free smoke alarms and batteries in a residential area located roughly between McCallie Avenue and 11th Street.
