Update:  The cause of yesterday's fire at 705 Creek Drive has been ruled accidental. Lt. Andrew Waters with the Fire Investigation Division said the fire appears to have started around a flood light, which was located at the front of the house, surrounded by dry mulch.

Chattanooga firefighters were out early this morning battling a house fire in the East Lake community. The 911 Communications Center received the first call of the fire at 2:40 a.m. and the Chattanooga Fire Department responded with five fire companies.

Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire at 705 Creek Drive. The department received the alarm at 9:00 a.m. and responded with five fire companies. Captain Craig Haney said he could see smoke from Mountain Creek Road while responding from Station 17 on Signal Mountain Boulevard.

John Price, an assistant manager on the Delta Queen, was on the top deck this afternoon around 5:00 when he noticed smoke billowing up from the river side of the boat. Mr. Price activated the fire alarm, called 911 and immediately ordered the evacuation of the riverboat.
