11-13-19 No one injured in apt. fire, dog rescued
CFD’s fire investigators say the cause of the second alarm fire at the Golden Gateway Apartments today appears to be accidental due to combustibles placed too close to a wall heater.
Heating fires in TN accounts for 38 percent of heating fire deaths and nearly $11 million in losses, according to the TN Dept. of Commerce and Insurance.
Give all heating equipment plenty of space. Keep items that can burn at least three feet from heat-emitting sources.
11-13-19 Red Cross assisting couple after fire on Noah Reid Rd
The weather caused some adverse conditions this morning for Chattanooga firefighters as they tackled a house fire, but they worked through it and no one was hurt.
It happened at 6:30 AM on Noah Reid Road, not far off of Bonny Oaks Drive.
One of the residents was home at the time, but he got out of the burning house safely and he was outside when we arrived on the scene to heavy smoke some and flames coming from the structure.

There were no injuries.
11-12-19 Duplex blaze sends infant to hospital
CFD is investigating a house fire in the 700 block of Curve Street in North Chattanooga that sent a baby to the hospital.
We got the call around 12:10 pm Tuesday.
When crews arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the unit on the right side of the duplex.
Firefighters started to attack the flames, which had moved to the attic.
The residents (mother, father and two children) got out, but an infant suffered minor burns and was taken to the hospital.
It took about 70 minutes to fully extinguish the blaze.
CFD also worked to protect the unit on the other side of the duplex.
Multiple companies were on scene. The impacted unit suffered extensive damage.
Investigators say it appears the fire started in one of the bedrooms and they believe it was accidental. It is still under investigation.
11-6-19 Kelly Subaru donates pet oxygen masks to CFD
Thanks to a generous donation from Kelly Subaru, the Chattanooga Fire Department is expanding its supply of pet oxygen masks.
Our pets are like family members so it's important for our crews to have this life-saving equipment on the scene of fires.
Every fire truck will be equipped with several masks.
This initiative is in conjunction with Subaru's National Campaign, "Subaru Loves Pets" for the month of October.
These specially-designed animal masks can be used both on conscious pets that have suffered from smoke inhalation and pets that need to be resuscitated after losing consciousness from exposure to the dangerous toxic fumes.
Fire Chief Phil Hyman expressed the department's gratitude and added: "It’s important for us to be able to do everything we can to make sure our pets are safe. We think it’s important to treat them like family members."
